I think that Oliver Twist is about an orphan boy who gets into troble with his master (at the orphange) and Oliver gets sent to a new family that makes Oliver help with their shop. Oliver does something bad again and Oliver runs off in the night to go to England. On the way to England he meets a street boy who lets Oliver into his home. There he meets a new man called Fagin who lets Oliver stay with them. Fagin and the boys teach Oliver to steal and one day Oliver gets caught.

1. Describe the time and place in which your novel is set. What clues within the book tell us this?
Oliver Twist is set in London in the 1800's. I could tell that it was set in London because they talked about Big Ben (the big clock), after hours lamp lighting and the London bridge (but set back a long time ago). Oliver Twist was described throughout the book in a old, dark and gloomy place.
The shocking trouble on the planet of Shobble is based in our time right now. The setting starts in Nicola and her brother's home but then they take a rocket ship to space to a planet called Shobble. So it is based in our itme but it has a science fiction side to the story.
2. Who are the main characters in your book? List the names and a short description of their personality traits.
Oliver Twist: Oliver was a shy boy, but if he had to do something than he would tell himself to do it. Oliver had a personality like he was always innocent and didn't do anything wrong and very confused with what was going on in his life; moving from one place to another, not knowing where he is and no knowing who his family was.
Artful Dodger: The Artful Dodger had a strong personality. He was always confident about what he did and always thought that he did the best day of stealing wallets and handkerchiefs out of people's pockets. He was very self assured of himself that he was the best and the apple of Fagin's eye.
Fagin: Fagin was a caring person towards the boys. But he was also very selfish when it came to money. He shared the money with the boy's if they do something SPECTACULAR, but otherwise it was his money. Fagin is also was a very happy at days but sometimes he was worried for someone or for something.
Nicola: Nicola is the leader of the space brigade and has to be courageous. She is a communicator and she is friendly to anyone she meet, (even though she doesn't like Greta). Some of the space brigade think that Nicola is a little bossy.
Enrico: Enrico is the commander in chief (mayor) of SHOBBLE. At first he seems like a great leader but then, he turns all rude and determined to for them to kill Topaz. So Enrico is a selfish, greedy, bad-tempered man.
Topaz: Topaz is the leader of a group for protesting against Enrico, to get them to be paid for the mining and drilling. In the book it says that Nicola could learn off her. So Topaz is a generous, loving, person, BUT, most important, is that she has a very determined mind to finish what she started.

Oliver and Dodger: Oliver and Dodger have a relationship where they are kind of like brothers that are from two seperate world's almost. Oliver and Dodger have this life where they are completly different but are similar in many ways like their past and family.
Dodger and Fagin: Dodger is kind of like a son to Fagin. Fagin looks after all the boys and Dodger is one of his favourite. Fagin is the most proud with Dodger because he is so good at pick-pocketing and then Fagin loves to sell and get money!
Oliver and Mr. Brownlow: Oliver and Mr. Brownlow have a loving relationship. Oliver and Mr. Brownlow love each other like a father son way because Mr. Brownlow took care of him and so did his maid who he also started to love!
Nicola and Topaz: Nicola and Topaz are both leaders. They often both have great idea's and share them with each other. Nicola and Topaz can relate to each other because they are both leaders, with annoying brothers (in their own team) and they become good friends.
Nicola and Enrico: Nicola absolutely HATES Enrico, but Enrico doesn't mind Nicola unless she doesn't kill Topaz and then he gets angry. At the beginning of the book when Nicola first met Enrico, she thought that he was one of the kindest man she had ever met. Enrico tried to bribe the space brigade and Nicola was really thinking about whether she should actually kill Topaz.
Topaz and Enrico: Topaz hates Enrico ever since he became the commander in chief of SHOBBLE, and Enrico hates Topaz ever since she started blowing up the mining equipment. When Topaz wins (with help from friends and the space brigade) Enrico is scared of them!
4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the character that you can most closely relate to and why?
My favourite character is Nancy because she is caring in many ways. Nancy likes Oliver and wants to protect him. But, she doesn't want to/can't get Bill Sikes mad. Nancy cares about Oliver and wants him to have a good life but Fagin and Bill S. wants him back, so Nancy risks her life for Oliver.
My favourite character is Topaz because she is so courageous and isn't afraid. She is a great leader and is helpful to a lot of people like her team and the space brigade. When the space brigade firsts meets Topaz and her team, she was really nice to them and together, Nicola and Topaz came up with a perfect plan that in the end, worked out perfectly!

Oliver Twist is a classic book. It is a classic book because Oliver Twist was written by Charles Dickons. It is set in London and the language in the book is all the way through out the book: 'Lor bless'. Oliver Twist was written ALONG time ago in the 1800's and has had many good reviews. It has been made into many different musicals and movies. Sometimes this book can relate to people and make them feel sad or lonely. If a book relates to you then it is more likely that you will enjoy it.
The shocking trouble on the planet of Shobble is defiantly a modern book. It is a modern book because it was only written REALLY recently and by a new author. It isn't set back at any time, in fact, it is set in the future! They use new names like 'Shimlara' and they still use the language we use everyday in stead of old fashioned words.

a) To_, I think that the book was pretty good. If you have never heard of it, read it or seen the movie, then Oliver Twist would be a good book for you. Oliver Twist is basically about an orphan boy who escapes the workhouse and has a dream to go to London. So when Oliver Twist gets to London he meets the Artful Dodger. The Dodger introduces him to Fagin and Nancy. When Bill Sikes heres about the boy, he wants to use him but then everything goes wrong. I think the GENRE for this book is it's a english classic, with some fighting and stealing. The SETTING for Oliver Twist was mainly in London. The DIFFICULTY LEVEL was, on a scale from 1 - 10, it would probably be a 6-8. The THEMES in the book were right and wrong, power, misuse of power and loyalty. The CONFLICT in the book was between Bill Sikes and Nancy when they would always fight but not just argue, much more which lead to Nancy's death. The RESOLUTION in the book was after Bill Sikes killed Nancy, his dog showed the way to where Bill would be and the police stopped him.
b/c) Because I did the school musical (Oliver Twist) and seen the movie, I found the book actually quite boring because I already knew what was going to happen. I didn't enjoy reading it because it was just plain boring to me.
d) No I didn't enjoy the book because when I first got the book from the library, I was excited to read the book because I hadn't read the book before but I had seen the movie and did the play. When I started to read the book I was already starting to get board and I had to finish the book so I kept reading. I knew what was going to happen which made it worse.
e) I don't think that I would read the same author but I would read the same genre because I like those kind of books but I would only really enjoy it if I have heard of the book but not really heard to much, like the WHOLE story.

a) To_, I liked this book a lot better than Oliver Twist. I had never heard of Liane Moriarty (the author) before. I thought that it looked really interesting so I read it and really enjoyed it. If you like adventure and little bit of weird comedy, than you should read this book. This book is also a series that I will hopefully continue. So, this book is basically about Nicola, Greta, Shimlara, Katie, Sean and Tyler, going to Shobble to have an adventure on a quest to find a girl called Topaz and kill her but, do the space they really kill Topaz, well you can read to the book you're self. I think the genre of the book is an adventure book, with also some wired comedy; because they go to Shobble which is a different planet and they have to fight against Enrico, and Sean and Tyler in the book have some weird funny moments. The setting in this book starts off at Nicola's house. Then when everyone's ready they go, they fly to Shimlara's house on Globagaskar. Then finally, they fly to SHOBBLE. The difficulty level in this book is on a scale from 1-10, it was a 9-10. The themes in the book were adventures, funny, confusing and weird. The central conflict in the book is when all the people of Shobble come down to the dock to protest against the miners not being paid. The resolution in the book is when all the people of Shobble go down to the dock, and use all of Enrico's affobia's against him.
b/c) I really liked the shocking trouble on the planet of Shobble because it was one of the type of books that I like to read. When I first started to read the book, I don't think it was the best way to begin, it could have been a bit more exciting or interesting. But I have to say that this was one of my favourite books that I have read.
d) I found it quite easy to get into because I was excited for the book to have some action in it. I really enjoyed it more as I kept reading on because it kept building up tension during the book until the big protest.

b/c) Because I did the school musical (Oliver Twist) and seen the movie, I found the book actually quite boring because I already knew what was going to happen. I didn't enjoy reading it because it was just plain boring to me.
